The economic team of Venezuela’s government met Saturday at the International Monetary Fund’s headquarters in Washington with the IMF’s managing director and her Western Hemisphere team, as part of a process to normalize relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the international financial community after more than a decade of sanctions and financial blockade.


During the working meeting, they discussed next steps of the bilateral agenda, technical assistance mechanisms, and ways to recover funds for the South American nation to support its economic recovery process.

Venezuelan delegation representatives said the country has begun a new stage of stability, growth, and openness based on the population’s efforts and a clear development vision. Officials reaffirmed Caracas’s commitment to strengthening productive capacities to generate employment opportunities.

The delegation also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing on the basis of mutual respect, national sovereignty, and constructive cooperation. It stated that efforts would continue to consolidate Venezuela’s economic rebirth and translate its potential into well‑being for the people.
